How Dubai made law enforcement smarter
Now they can spot criminal cars on the streets.
The Dubai Police may employ more than 15,000 officers and personnel, but even if every single one of them roamed the streets combing through car parks for wanted car license plate numbers, they would not be able to track every individual who has committed an offence. That is why police cars in Dubai now have automatic scanners - called an Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) system - attached to their roof-mounted lightbars.
- Identify and capture 2739 criminals locally and internationally in just 18 months
- Keep every patrol car updated to provide real-time response on the busy city streets
- Ensure their scanners stay in top condition despite the blazing heat
