John was recently appointed the Victorian Government's first Chief Information Security Officer, situated in the Department of Premier & Cabinet. His responsibilities include delivering the actions in the recently released Victorian Government Cyber Security Strategy. John's career began in the NSW public sector, then focused on cyber security and IT governance in financial services over the past 25 years.He and his wife Margaret moved to Melbourne from Sydney in 2011 to take on the role of Senior Manager Enterprise Technology Risk with ANZ. He is on the Board of the Melbourne Chapter of ISACA (Information Systems Audit and Control Association) and is a regular guest lecturer on IT Security and Risk Management at a number of universities. He enjoys sport and has a passion for flying.
