(DEPA) that will be showcasing digital innovations, which aims to boost public
awareness regarding digital transformation.
Thailand’s DEPA started its marketing
campaign for the event it is staging at the Impact Muang Thong Thani on 19 to
23 September 2018, which will be showcasing digital innovations.
DEPA is targeting to reach 1 million
attendees for its Digital Thailand Big Bang 2018 event with the theme, “Thailand
Big Data”, which aims to boost public awareness regarding digital
This year will be the first time that the Big
Bang event will have regional offshoots in four provinces with the objective of
increasing digital tech awareness in local communities. From July to August
2018, the events will be held in the four provinces of Khon Kaen, Chiang Mai,
Rayong and Songkhla.
Minister for Digital Economy and Society
Pichet Durongkaveroj explained that all four provinces were selected because of
their potential for the Smart City pilot project.
Minister Pichet said that 190 million baht
has been allocated to fund the Big Bang events nationwide. The government
expects that these events will be able to create awareness to more than 100,000
people in each province. This will bring the importance of everyday digital
usage to more than 500,000 households.
He added, “The government has tasked the DE
Ministry with hosting the event in major provinces to create tech awareness and
encourage small and medium-sized enterprises and startups, providing them
greater opportunities through business matchings and showcases.”

The venue, Impact Muang Thong Thani,
increased the space that the Big Bang event will use. 60,000 square metres were
allocated to accommodate more cutting-edge technology showcases. Moreover, the
duration of the event was extended to five days, which gives the public more
opportunities to take part in the event.
DEPA President Nuttapon Nimmanphatcharin
said the event in Khon Kaen, on 6 to 8 July 2018, will focus on presenting the
Smart City development plan. This is a medical hub policy that focuses on
modern, convenient, fast, safe and mobile care and the area's overall digital
The event in Chiang Mai, on 20 to 22 July
2018, will highlight intelligent simulation for the better provision of
municipal services for the city.
The flagship projects under the Ministry
for Digital Economy and Society, including the Eastern Economic Corridor, will
be presented during the event in Rayong, on 17 to 19 August 2018.
The event in Songkhla will focus on Smart City
development and the border economic zone there. Also to be presented is the
cooperation among the local government, private sector and institutes of higher
learning on areas ranging from tourism to digital transformation. The event is
scheduled on 24 to 26 August 2018.
